John Kennedy Toole (1937/12/17-1969/03/26) was an New Orleans writer who won the
Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1981 for his comedic mastepiece
Confedereacy of Dunces. His books were never published during his life time as it failed to garner any attention from the publishers. His book was finally published in 1980 after his mother brought a copy of
Confederacy of Dunces to
Walker Percy, a renowned Southern writer, in 1976. Percy fell in love with the book and helped getting it published. Toole has only one more novel,
The Neon Bible.
