Peral S Buck was an American writer who was brought up in China. She won numerous award in her career. She received Nobel Prize in Literature in 1938. She won the award for "for her rich and truly epic descriptions of peasant life in China and for her biographical masterpieces", accodring to Nobel Prize website. She also won the Pulitzer Prize for her novel The Good Earth. Interestingly, she was taught Chinese as primary language and English as secondary language when grew up.
