Nobel Prize in Literature

Nobel Prize is an annual award given by Nobel Foundation in Sweden.  The medal itself reads "Inventas vitam juvat excoluisse per artes" which translates to "And they who bettered life on earth by their newly found mastery."  The first award was given in 1901 to the French poet and philosopher Sully Prudhomme.
